The most famous of the protein diets for weight loss has to be the Atkins Diet. Participants are actually encouraged to eat as much as the want - and during the initial stages the weight loss can be fast. Most of the weight loss is due to a loss of body fluids.
Unfortunately fat stores are hardly affected.
Nevertheless a study has revealed people on high protein diets actually ended up consuming less calories even though Atkins high protein regime suggests they eat all they want. Protein seems to act like an appetite suppressant thus hunger pangs are easily controlled. High protein dieters no longer seem to binge between meals.
There are some food restrictions - in other words you will have less variety of food choices. That in turn may lead to a natural tendency to eat less. According to studies people will consume more if the variety of foods is greater
